Nina Warters

I have worked with children for over twenty years in the private sector, in the public sector (SureStart childrens’centres) and within schools. I have been the Lead Practitioner for organising play opportunities for 3-11 year olds including children with behavioural difficulties and special educational needs. I also have experience of working with Looked after Children and Adoptive children and have been an Independent Adoption Panel member for some years.

I became interested in the value and benefits of therapeutic play when looking for interventions for my own daughter who has ADHD and is also on the Autistic spectrum. I was impressed by the child-led approach, the theory behind the methods used and clinical evidence that shows that therapeutic play can be beneficial and can have measurable results.

I decided to study for my therapeutic play qualifications through the highly respected organisation, Play Therapy UK (PTUK). This gave me the opportunity to learn about relevant theory and gain experience through an extensive period of Supervised, clinical practice with children.

I also have a post graduate certificate in emotional education and have planned and run group interventions for adults during Summer schools.

I am passionate about what I do and feel blessed that I’ve been given the opportunity to help others.
