Welcome to OTS with Nina Warters
Thank you for visiting this website to find out more about what therapeutic play has to offer children.
Therapeutic play helps children to make sense of difficult life experiences, past or present, through the symbolic communication of play. Play is the natural language of children and can help them to explore various issues that they might have difficulty communicating verbally.
Through therapeutic play children may learn to communicate with others, express feelings, modify behaviour, develop problem-solving skills and learn a variety of ways of relating to others.
Therapeutic play advances at the child’s pace, is non-threatening and child-led. The focus is on creating a ‘safe space’ where a child can begin to explore his/her inner worlds. Through their interactions with toys and creative mediums such as clay, paint, musical instruments, sand and water, children can explore and experience the healing power of play.
Nina usually works with children aged between 3 and 11 years and sometimes adolescents. One-to-one or group work is available. Contact Nina for an initial free consultation and assessment of individual need(s). The consultation will be based around a discussion on how play and creative arts therapy may benefit your school or individual child.
